Turkmen launched a signature campaign against the Iraqi Election Commissioner’s Office within the scope of protests of allegations that the general elections in Iraq had been corrupted.

Member of Iraqi Turkmen Front Youth Organization Ali Tazehurmatulu made a statement to AA reporter saying that a signature campaign had been launched to complain to the United Nations (UN) that the general elections had been corrupted. Tazehurmatulu said that although the campaign had been running only for two days more than 160 thousand signatures had been collected and that the target was to reach 200 thousand.
Tazehurmatulu said that the objective was to let the whole world know that this election had been corrupted and said, “We shall forward the signatures collected at the Iraqi representation to the UN to take the matter there. Furthermore we intend to document proof of the corruption.”
Kirkuk citizen Hüseyin Cafer who participated in the campaign said, “I am more than happy to sign to take ownership of our votes. We cannot remain silent in the face of victimization.”
TURKMEN HAVE BEEN PROTESTING FOR DAYS
Kirkuk citizen Ahmet Muhammet said that the only thing that thousands of Turkmen coming here every day wanted was to prevent the violation of their rights and reveal those who had willfully violated the will of the nation to the world.

Turkmen in Kirkuk Iraq have started protests on the grounds that their votes especially in areas with concentrated Turkmen population were shifted to Kurdish parties in the general election held on the 12th of May Saturday.
