UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie called for help for Iraqi migrants

Oscar winning actress and Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Angelina Jolie called on the international community to help migrants in Iraq.

Jolie visited Dumiz camp in Duhok province of Iraq and held a press conference saying that the situation of the migrants in the camps had deteriorated since the last year.

Jolie said, “I saw the destruction in Mosul city. People need medical care, support in education and some services. I saw women who had lost their husbands in the conflicts and were building their homes themselves. These women also have orphaned children.” And called on the international organizations and the governments in the world to help the migrants in Iraq and enable them to return to their homes.

Colonel Ahmed el-Ceburi deputized at Ninova Operations Command made a statement to AA reporter saying that Jolie had gone to Zenceli zone west of Mosul yesterday and visited 3 families from Mosul who had suffered from the conflicts.

Ceburi said that Jolie was studying the status of Mosul for cash aid and for the rebuilding of the old city zone. UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie visited migrants who had been forced to leave their homes because of DEASH attacks in Iraq before.
