Bomb attack in Iraq

A regiment commander lost his life in a bomb attack targeting security forces in Kirkuk Iraq. Colonel Hamid el-Ubeydi from Kirkuk Security Directorate made a statement to an AA reporter and said that the unnamed 16th Brigade 1st Regimental Commander had lost his life in the attack on police forces attached to the Ä°ttihadiye Police Organization in Dakuk province, 45 kilometers away from Kirkuk.

Ubeydi said that the attack took place when security forces were scanning the area.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haydar al-Ibadi announced in December 2017 that the terrorist organization DEAS had ended its military presence in the country after three years, however sleeper cells continued to organize terrorist acts from time to time in some places in Iraq.
